DDSC Volunteer Policy Discussion

We are inviting everybody in the David Douglas Soccer Club Community

DDSC is providing this "town hall" forum to let you know
that your opinions matter and your voices are being heard. Come 6:30 P.M. on Friday

On-line registration will be available January 1st thru Feb.28 we encourage all members to register on-line. If you are interested in coaching, you must also register online!

For those of you unable to register online, you can mail in the registration form to David Douglas Soccer Club PO Box 90100 Portland OR 97290 or come to one of our walk-in registration dates listed below.
Walk-in registrations will be held at Pizza Baron located at 2604 SE Division on the following dates ONLY:
Thursday, February 4th 6pm - 7pm . Saturday, February 20th 11am to 12pm

Children must have turned 4 years of age by July 31, 2009 to participate in the Spring League. If new to DDSC , you must provide a copy of player’s birth certificate. The age breakdown for the 2009/2010 season is as follows. The “U” before an age group means that as of August 1, 2009 the player was “UNDER” that age, i.e. U5 means that as of August 1st, all players were 4 years of age.

David Douglas Soccer Club News and Updates, Please Read

As of now, there will not be a micro tournament this year. None of the clubs, including ours, has stepped up to the job of hosting the event

The winning number from the Jamboree raffle is 437535. If you have this ticket you must claim your prize by Midnight Oct 6th. Send an Email to info@ddsoccer.org

All Parents please clean up the fields after your games. The school district will stop letting us use their fields if we leave them littered.

Also, when the game is going on, DO NOT yell at the refs. The ref has the right to stop the game and eject you. They will not restart the game until you have left.

Parents please do not coach from the sidelines, unless you are the coach!

Please be positive towards the actions of your players and the other teams, remember these are just young kids!

All Coaches, please be more careful with the lock on the porta potties and equipment� boxes. We have already lost the PortaPotty lock at Menlo, and I found the one at Earl Boyles on the ground under the unit

When unlocking the portapotty, please lock the lock back on to one of the two holes that lock it, that way the lock will not get lost. If you are the last coach on the field PLEASE be sure to lock the portapotties, equipment boxes and the gates at Menlo and Cherry Park. When Unlocking any lock, please lock it to something so that the lock does not get lost!

Parents and Coaches, Do you know the game well enough to Ref? Do you want a little extra cash? The club is looking for a few more people to ref games. You will be paid on a per game basis. Contact refs@ddsoccer.org

Our next meeting is Wednesday October 7th at 7pm at Pizza Baron. We will be reviewing the proposed bylaw changes that will be voted on at the Annual General Meeting(AGM)

Many board positions will be up for election I will send out an email after the meeting next week with a list of �positions up for elections and proposed bylaw changes. As some of us age out (at least our children do) the club is always looking for new parents to step up and help lead the club. Anyone is welcome to run for any of the positions open for election.

The AGM will be Nov 17th at Spaghetti factory.

Girls High School Soccer teams need help from you kids!

The Girls High School Soccer coach is looking for kids

to come to the home games and be ball kids (chase the ball when it goes our of bounds).

The kids will wear their soccer club team jerseys and their names will be announced at half time

This would be a good experience for the kids to watch and learn from the High School players

You can sign up to be there as individuals or as a team, for one game or more

All games are on the stadium field where our Jamboree was!

Volunteer hours
With the Jamboree over we are now focusing on other ways for you to complete you volunteer hours here is a list of some way to do it

Help your coach set up or tear down the nets and corner flags for the fields

For older age kids, be a line judge for a game or more

We need a group of parents and one or two people to coordinate to Pick up some soil at Mt Scott fuel or ?? and use it to level some of the holes and grooves in our game fields
save the receipt for the soil and you will be reembursed

Someone to sand and paint the goals at upper Menlo Park, The goals are not very old but they are getting some rust spots, this may just be a touch up job

If you see something else that could be done to help the club or your team, feel free to suggest it

For Micro Games, does anyone feel that we should have a parent for the official time keeper or ref the games?
