DD Soccer Jamboree Meeting Info

If you would like to have input on the formation of the Jamboree including deciding about face painting, goal set up competitions, food details, silent auction, or other ideas that will make this a great Jamboree, Please come to the meeting and add your input. Tonight and next Monday(8/18) night at 7 pm the Jamboree committee will be meeting at Pizza Baron (122nd and Division). We may also meet Aug 25th if needed. If you are willing to help with set up, tear down, selling food or merchandise, managing any of the competitions or???, but can't make it to the meeting, please email us at <a href="mailto:jamboree@ddsoccer.org">jamboree@ddsoccer.org</a> The committee will be asking every team to have at least one parent volunteer to help Sept 6 th during the event. Remember the Summer Soccer camp for Kid next week, see our web site at ddsoccer.org for more info Dear Coaches and Parents, As you know our Jamboree is quickly approaching and we will be having a raffle and silent auction at the event. In addition to requesting donations from our area business we are asking that all the teams participate by putting together a basket for our silent auction. The way we propose this be arranged is having all the players donate between $3 - $5 dollars to go towards purchasing items to go in the basket. The Soccer Club can provide baskets and cellophane if needed to complete your baskets. A themed basket is always a winner and here are some ideas: Movie Night, Bubble Bath, Sundae Ice Cream Social, Car Cleaning Set, Italian Dinner, Car Maintenance Items, Cookie/Cake/Treat, Scrapbook Items, Mexican Fiesta, Pet Care Kit, Tools for Dad or Mom, Hermit Crab Habitat and accessories, Pedicure Set, Garden/Planting Theme, Manicure Set, Sports Theme, Massage Set, Candles, Tea/Coffee Baskets, Parents Night Out, Parents Night In, Chocolate, Grilling/BBQ, Golf Theme, Assorted Sweets, Assorted Nuts, Survival Kit, Breakfast in Bed, Stress Relieving Spa Kit for him or her, Fisherman Basket, Family Snack Basket, Pizza Kit These are just some ideas to help get you started. Please be sure to keep track of the value of the items in your baskets so we can make sure to put them up to bid appropriately. We ask that you have this all complete and turned in to the Jamboree Committee by August 30th. Then all you have to do from there is come and enjoy the Jamboree. Keep in mind we are looking for volunteers to help out as needed at the Jamboree. We will be looking for help from set up to clean up at the Jamboree. David Douglas Soccer News The Fall Soccer Season is fast approaching and if you have not signed up yet, please do so soon! You can go to our web site at ddsoccer.org and click on the register tab. Because we have to have our teams to the CRYSA scheduler by August 7th, we will be charging a late fee of $10 after Aug 4th. Also registration after that date may cause your child to be put on a wait list depending on if there is room on the appropriate team. Remember to sign up for Rick Johnston's Soccer camp Aug. 11-15. You can find more details on our web site! Our annual Soccer Jamboree will be Saturday Sept. 6th. If you like Burgerville hamburgers, they will be suppling and cooking the hamburgers for the Jamboree. Burgerville will bring their grills, hamburgers and staff. We will also be selling drinks, snacks and ice cream. If you can help man the food booth for an hour or two, help with set up, or cleanup. Please let us know. The Jamboree committee will be meeting a few times in August, so if you have ideas you would like implemented, let us know, and we will email you when a meeting is planned If you are interested in being a team parent, we will be having a meeting or two in August to help you organize your team. Time and date TBA If you have thought about coaching or being an referee, we have coaches and referee clinics coming soon. Coaches clinic for U-8 and younger on Aug 16th from 9am to 12 noon. This is put on by Oregon Youth Soccer at no cost to the coaches. A referee clinic has not yet been scheduled. We will be changing our phone number back to 503-672-9264 Ext 446, which is the message phone supplier free from OYSA. This will save the club over $600 per year. On the 4th, the **** fireworks **** began to look like soccer balls, which reminded me to write this news letter. and now you know why I was never a successful comedian. First, there have been some people who have signed up their kids with the new online system, and although it looked complete, but it isn't. If you log onto your account you should be able to see who the coach is for your kids, or at least the team they are on. If not, then your registration is not complete and we do not have information to assign your child to a team. Next, But most important for the procrastinators in the club. This is the first year in many that DDSC has a late registration fee Because we want to ease you into the change, <bold>We extended the registration period until July 20th.</bold> So you have two more weeks to register without paying a late fee. Timbers Tickets Discount Tickets to any Portland Timbers home games are still available for $10 each. These tickets can be exchanged at the box office for $14 reserved seats for any of the Timber home games. You can pick them up on Sunday June 1st between noon and 3pm at Mill Park Soccer Field or contact Jim at 503-761-0514 or <a href="mailto:jimb@ddsoccer.org">jimb@ddsoccer.org</a> Volunteers needed! To provide your children with a great soccer experience, your club is in the need for volunteers. If you are a can-do minded individual we need your help to fill the following board positions Referee Coordinator: We need a volunteer to help recruit referees, set a training date, and schedule referees for the fall season You do not need to know how to referee, training can be available from OYSA at no cost to you! Secretary: One volunteer to take notes at the monthly meetings and provide a copy of the notes (minutes of the meeting) for the next meeting Fund Raising Coordinator Jamboree Help For our annual Jamboree that will be held the weekend after labor day in September we need the following help. We need people to manage or work on each of the following parts of the event: Food and snack sales, Pictures and game scheduling, Club merchandise sales, Raffle and prizes, Set-up and Tear down, Logistics and facilities General planning and organization We would also like to consider doing something different this year like having a dunk tank, a parent vs parents game or goal set up competition, but we need volunteers for it to happen. Spring Season Info

First, I would like to apologize for the delays getting information to coaches and parents this spring season. There are mistakes that were made that caused the delay, but I don't want to make excuses. We will be putting guidelines in place to prevent these delays from happening in the future. That being said, Spring Season starts Saturday April 12th for the U-8 and above teams(CRYSA teams). Micros start on Sunday April 13th at Mill Park There was not enough players registered for Sunday play for U-8. Those players were moved to CRYSA teams. Monday will be refunded for to those who signed up for both days. All schedules are now on line at <a href="http://www.ddsoccer.org/schedule.html">http://www.ddsoccer.org/schedule.html</a> All field location with map links are at <a href="http://www.ddsoccer.org/fields.html">http://www.ddsoccer.org/fields.html</a> if there is a missing field or incorrect, let us know Rules for the CRYSA teams are posted at <a href="http://www.ddsoccer.org/index.html">http://www.ddsoccer.org/index.html</a> Players from CRYSA teams will either use their jerseys from the fall season, or if you are a new player you will be given a jersey by the coach Micro players will be given a t-shirt on Sunday April 13th. If you have not been contacted by a coach by Friday Evening, please email us at <a href="mailto:info@ddsoccer.org">info@ddsoccer.org</a> All player must have soccer shoes, black shorts and socks. If you would like ticket to the Portland Timbers Professional soccer games at a reduced price, a board member will be selling them every Sunday during the Micro season. Tickets are good for any game during the 2008 season. We are selling Level 3 tickets for $10 each. These tickets normally sell for $14. Rules that are important 1. DO NOT COMPLAIN OR YELL AT THE REFEREE! The referees are mostly students who play soccer that are learning to be a referee. They will make mistakes, but remember it is only a game, and if you yell at or berate the ref, not only is it against Oregon Law, but the ref can and will stop the game, tell you to leave and not start the game until you have left. 2 For the most part your child will play at least 50% of the game, however that can be reduced by the coach for not participating in practices or if your child does not have the endurance to play that much. To be sure your child gets ample playing time, be sure they attend team practices. If your child lacks endurance, have your child run, or do other exercises to increase their endurance. Many children do not have the endurance to play 50% of the game 3. Please give the coaches your help and support. They are volunteering their time to help your child learn soccer, to organize the team to be successful and to have fun. 4. * No jewelry is a league rule, the referee can require jewelry be removed for the player to continue playing. Be aware that jewelry can cause an injury if hit by a ball or a collision with another player. Thank You for your patience and Have a Great Season Jim Braet DDSC President

Spring Soccer registration

*Spring Soccer Registration for pre-school thru 8th grade News* You can choose to play either Saturday, or Sunday, or both Saturday, CRYSA league teams will have games on Saturdays and practices during mid-week. Games begin April 12th and runs for 6 weeks, for children currently in 2nd grade thru 8th for all skill levels. Sunday, In-house league is for those who just want to play soccer without practice. Begins April 13th and runs for 6 weeks, for children currently in pre-school thru 8th grade also for all skill levels. Register online at www.ddsoccer.org and save $5 Cost for either day $35 on-line or $40 at Pizza Baron add only $15 more to play both days On-line Registration Ends: March 22nd Registration at Pizza Baron 122nd and Division Wednesday March 19th from 5:30-7pm LAST Registration Saturday, March 22nd from 11am 1 pm Help!!!!
